Real Estate.com.au now has pet friendly search feature!

April 14, 2010 – 7:35 am

The day has finally arrived! The new Real Estate.com.au website has been completely revamped and includes a pet friendly search feature!

How it works is you:

  • Choose your basic search criteria (location, property type, bedrooms etc)
  • Once the first page of search results load, choose the Refine Search By form to select “Pets allowed”

Is this the be all and end all solution for renting pet owners?

Unfortunately it isn’t as our research shows that many properties that would accept an application from a pet owner are not identified as “pet friendly”. Therefore the ability to do a normal search that brings back all properties but highlighting “pet friendly” properties (as our search tool does) is still the best and most comprehensive way to search.

This means I’ll be working hard to get our Pet Friendly Search Tool working again ASAP.

The Pet Friendly Rentals search tool will now be free to download

As Domain.com.au and Real Estate.com.au now have a pet friendly search feature, the downloading of the search tool will be free from this point on. While the search tool still provides value, it is won’t be essential in all cases and now is more of an additional feature when searching for pet friendly rentals.

Cheers,
Ryan

  2. Hi Guys

  3. Your pet friendly tool is very much still needed. The ‘pets allowed’ on realestate.com only brings up a few houses whereas your tool brought many more houses up as ‘pet friendly’

  4. I have been looking for a rental property now for 3 months using your software. I need a 2 bedroom place for under $250, in the Gosford area. I need to be able to cimmute to Silverwater for work. I did the references for my 7 year old russian blue cat Vladimir, the photos and everything. I have been knocked back every time. I now have only about 3 weeks left to find somewhere. I keep coming up against Agents who won’t even contemplate negotiation and won’t even take the information back to the owner of the property to clarify. I don’t know what else to do, I will never give up my cat.

  5. Hi Peter,

This is what I expected and hopefully, this situation improves over time. Still working on getting the search tool to be compatible with the new version of the site.

  9. Been looking for a decent place to rent in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs with my 8yr old miniature foxy. She’s clean, quiet and responsible. Have been looking for ages and must find something by Feb. 2011. Any ideas?
    Cheers

  10. I’ve moved from a home with a lovely dog who was a big part of my life, to a new city, alone, with no housemates or dog. I’m on a breeder’s list and want to move into a pet friendly place when my lease is up in September so I can accept a puppy in November and go from being alone and lonely, to having a dog to keep me company. I tried using the search too, when I originally moved here to Sydney, but nothing in my price range came up. I was on a limited timeframe and moved into a non-pet friendly place on a short lease thinking something would come up by the time the pup was born. But I search on almost a daily basis now, in suburbs all over Sydney and I can honestly say I never get a pet friendly hit. It’s very, very disappointing. Clearly not your fault, but disappointing nonetheless.
