The day has finally arrived! The new Real Estate.com.au website has been completely revamped and includes a pet friendly search feature!

The day has finally arrived! The new Real Estate.com.au website has been completely revamped and includes a pet friendly search feature!

How it works is you:

Choose your basic search criteria (location, property type, bedrooms etc)

Once the first page of search results load, choose the Refine Search By form to select “Pets allowed”

Is this the be all and end all solution for renting pet owners?

Unfortunately it isn’t as our research shows that many properties that would accept an application from a pet owner are not identified as “pet friendly”. Therefore the ability to do a normal search that brings back all properties but highlighting “pet friendly” properties (as our search tool does) is still the best and most comprehensive way to search.

This means I’ll be working hard to get our Pet Friendly Search Tool working again ASAP.

The Pet Friendly Rentals search tool will now be free to download

As Domain.com.au and Real Estate.com.au now have a pet friendly search feature, the downloading of the search tool will be free from this point on. While the search tool still provides value, it is won’t be essential in all cases and now is more of an additional feature when searching for pet friendly rentals.

Cheers,
Ryan

Jan Newcombe, a very generous and kind hearted soul from Brusselton Western Australia has made her house available to accomodate a dog for a short term stay if needed.

This is from Jan in an email.

I live in Abbey a suburb of Busselton West Australia. I am an avid dog lover with a large backyard and the added advantage of living a block from the beautiful Geographe Bay, which is a dog friendly beach. I have previously had much loved dogs at my home, so consequently my backyard is “dog friendly” and very secure. If I can help out with a short term stay to assist someone getting a rental, I am happy to do so.

Kind regards
Jan Newcombe

If you’re having a problem finding a rental and simply need a bit more time, then you can send an email to Jan at newcombe@westnet.com.au

Thanks again Jan for your generous offer!

We’ve been working hard to increase the search capabilities of the Pet Friendly Rentals Search Tool and as part of our first major upgrade, it now supports searching on Domain.com.au, as well as Real Estate.com.au.

We’ve been working hard to increase the search capabilities of the Pet Friendly Rentals Search Tool and as part of our first major upgrade, it now supports searching on Domain.com.au, as well as Real Estate.com.au.

Secondly – by request from many pet owners, you can now use the Pet Friendly Rentals Search Tool to search the ‘for sale’ sections of Real Estate.com.au and Domain.com.au – making it easier for you to find properties to buy that you know are suitable for both you and your pets.

Thirdly, whether searching for properties to rent or to buy, the Pet Friendly Rentals Search Tool now tells you when ‘no properties were found’ on the page you are searching – so you’re not left wondering if the extension has worked or if there are just no suitable properties on that page.

Our next task is to develop the search tool further so it can be used to search Homehound.com.au and MyHome.com.au and this will be happening in the coming months.

While many lives have been lost and devastated by the bush fires in Victoria, many animals have suffered a similar fate and need your help. You can assist by donating a small amount of money to the RSPCA Victoria.

While many lives have been lost and devastated by the bush fires in Victoria, many animals have suffered a similar fate and need your help.

The animal welfare organisations have an enormous task on their hands when they are finally able to enter areas ravaged by recent bushfires. There are thousands of injured and starving animals still trapped, and the loss of two wildlife shelters has only worsened the situation.

There are so many stories emerging of what animals caught in the fires went through, and are still going through. Survivor Jason Lynn told The Herald that he doesn’t remember much of his ordeal except for the howling and screaming of animals burning to death in nearby paddocks and bushland. His story is a reminder that both human and animal victims need our support after the fires.

Injured domestic animals and native wildlife not killed by the fires now face starvation. Even the smallest donation will go along way to helping the Victorian RSPCA rescue and care for these animals, it only takes a minute and whatever you can spare will really help.

Please donate by going to http://www.rspcavic.org/campaigns_news/news_bushfires.htm or calling (03) 9224 2222. Every donation counts!
