Why pet resumés are essential
The purpose of a pet resumé is to highlight your pet's best qualities and demonstrate your commitment to responsible pet ownership. It's not just what the resumé says about your pet that's important. It's also about what putting together a great pet resumé says about you as a pet owner and prospective tenant.
First National Real Estate national communications manager, Stewart Bunn says "It's important to remember many landlords themselves have pets and understand the importance of a pet to its owner. You just need to demonstrate that you are responsible and prepared to deal with any issues that might emerge."
Creating a pet resumé
While there are numerous guides online for creating a pet resumé, they only describe the sort of content to include, such as the pet's age, good temperament etc. Although these guides are a great start, there are still a lot of steps left up to the individual such as designing the look and feel of the document and how to specifically tailor each section depending upon whether the pet is a dog or cat.
So, we decided to go one step further and develop what is essentially a pet resumé builder. It's easy, user friendly and you don't need Microsoft Word or any other desktop publishing tool - everything is done inside your web browser on the Pet Friendly Rentals website. It guides you through what to write at each step and once you hit save, print the pet resumé and you're done!
Getting Started
All you need to do is sign in to your Pet Friendly Rentals account, then click on the Add new Pet Resumé button and you're on your way. If you don't yet have a Pet Friendly Rentals account, just create one, it's easy and FREE!
A pet resumé might seem like a lot of work, but we've made it remarkably easy and it will definitely improve your chances of getting approved for pet friendly rental. The more your prospective property manager knows about you and your pet, the more comfortable he or she will be about approving your application.
